Bigger just got a whole lot better. With Royal Caribbean International's recent announcement of the redeployment of the Wonder of the Seas, people living in the United States have an incredible opportunity to sail on this game-changing ship. It would be an understatement to describe this vessel as anything but incredible as she boasts some of the most exciting onboard experiences at sea.
Wonder will be Royal Caribbean's newest flagship as well as the largest cruise ship in the world. Coming in as the fifth Oasis-class ship, there can be many similarities amongst her sisters, but Royal was sure to give the ship its own character, featuring a few firsts for the line and class. From sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Wonder of the Seas will debut on March 4th, 2022. Wonder will sail three seven-night and one five-night Western Caribbean itineraries and three seven-night eastern Caribbean itineraries. She will round up her Fort Lauderdale sailings with a 14-night transatlantic crossing to spend a summer in the Mediterranean. Wonder of the Seas spans a whopping 18 decks, 1,188 feet long, and comes in at around 236,857 gross registered tons.
Some of the most noticeable changes to the ship can be found on the outside decks. A newly redesigned pool deck has been created to allow guests the chance to relax under the warm Caribbean sun or to splash away stress as they travel the most historically rich region of the world. Making a triumphant return to the pool deck will be the Perfect Storm waterslides, The Lime and Coconut, as well as Splashaway Bay.
A new concept for the line is the "Wonder Playscape." Replacing one of the two Flowriders on the ship will be this new concept of games, slides, and climbing walls for kids to let their creativity and imagination loose. A returning attraction found at the aft of the ship is the fan-favorite Ultimate Abyss. Guests have the opportunity to ride this dry slide down its spiraling course from deck 16 down to deck six, connecting two neighborhoods, the Sports Deck to the Boardwalk!
Entertainment onboard any Oasis-class ship is impressive, so you can only expect that Wonder will take it to a whole new level. The industry-changing Aqua Theater has received a makeover from its original debut on the Oasis of the Seas; the Aqua Theater will feature a mesmerizing unique backdrop as well as the capability to hold 137,000 gallons of water in its deep diving pool. Other venues such as Music Hall, Studio B, and Spotlight Karaoke will make their debuts way from other vessels.
One of my favorite aspects of any ship is the personality that the different venus present. In place of one of the cantilevered hot tubs, The Vue Bar will extend off the side of the ship with a canopy of kaleidoscope colors, and this will be the prime spot to watch sail away or end the day with a vibrant sunset. Some other incredible venues onboard include the Lime and Coconut, with Caribbean vibes aplenty. The return of the iconic elevating bar at sea, the Rising Tide Bar, lastly, the bar of the future, the Bionic Bar, let one of two robotic bartenders craft a cocktail for you.
The Wonder of the Seas will offer all seven neighborhoods her sister boasts and will debut the Oasis Class first Suite Class district. The most noticeable difference in the Suite Neighborhood is the relocation of the Private Sun Deck, now overlooking the Sports Zone and Boardwalk.
Saving the best for last would be dining. On Wonder of the Seas, dining seems to have an endless number of options. Each guest will be able to find a restaurant that suits their taste buds. The cruise fare includes the Windjammer Marketplace, El Loco Fresh, Park Café, and many other delicious dining options. For guests wishing to experience more dining options, specialty dining options onboard are expansive. A personal favorite would be Wonderland, where the dining experience is just as important as the food. Still, a few close runner-ups must be Chops Grille and Giovanni's Italian Kitchen. Now you will get to experience Giovannis Winebar, a new Royal Caribbean experience that debuted on Freedom of the Seas after her Amplifcarion in 2020.
As we can see, Wonder of the Seas will take the already award-winning class of ships to the next level Guests will have a fabulous and memorable sailing.
