Today, December 9, 2020, Virgin Voyages announced the extension of their sailing suspension. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Virgin has decided to push Scarlet Lady's debut until May 2021, 14 months after her expected debut in March 2020. With the CDC conditional sailing order in place and the rise of COVID-19 cases, much of the cruise industry, including Virgin Voyages, has decided to extend their sailing suspension to allow the world to heal and to spend more time developing and implementing new health protocols.
In addition to Scarlet Lady's debut delay extended to May 9, 2021, her sister Valiant Lady has been delayed until November 14, 2021. Due to delays from the shipyard, Valiant Lady's debut will be delayed much like most of the industry's new ships expected to debut this year.
Virgin Voyages was expected to debut in Spring 2020, giving a fresh breath into the cruise industry. All-inclusive dining, no buffets, single-use plastic, and a boutique experience are just a few of the pivotal changes this incredible company brings to the industry.
