Royal Caribbean International has officially lifted the curtain on its latest marvel, Star of the Seas, set to launch in August 2025. Promising to redefine the cruise experience, Star of the Seas is the second ship in the revolutionary Icon Class, building on the success of the Icon of the Seas. This new vessel will soon make Port Canaveral its home port, offering travelers unprecedented vacation experiences in one of the world's top travel destinations.
A New Era of Cruising
Star of the Seas is not just another cruise ship; it represents a bold step forward in the evolution of family vacations at sea. With a lineup of features that blend adventure, relaxation, and luxury, this ship is poised to double the "world's best vacation count," according to Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
"Between Miami and Port Canaveral, more adventurers than ever can set their sights on the only vacation that combines the best of all vacations – from the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure – with experiences that have and will continue to make headlines and memories for years to come," Bayley remarked.
Unrivaled Onboard Experiences
Spanning eight neighborhoods, Star of the Seas offers a unique blend of amenities designed to cater to every type of traveler. From adrenaline-pumping water slides to serene infinity pools, every deck is packed with opportunities for guests to create unforgettable memories.
Thrill Island: Home to Category 6, the first waterpark at sea introduced by Icon, featuring six record-breaking waterslides, including family raft slides and a heart-pounding drop slide. Guests can also test their courage on Crown’s Edge, a skywalk and thrill ride that towers 154 feet above the ocean.
Chill Island: A three-deck oasis featuring four of the ship’s seven pools, each offering stunning ocean views. Whether you’re looking to relax by the swim-up bar or dance to live music at The Lime & Coconut, Chill Island has something for everyone.
Surfside: Designed for young families, Surfside is a neighborhood where parents and kids can enjoy their vacation together. From Splashaway Bay for the little ones to Water’s Edge pool for adults, this area ensures that fun and relaxation are never far apart.
AquaDome: By day, AquaDome offers a tranquil escape with panoramic ocean views, while by night, it transforms into a vibrant entertainment hub featuring breathtaking performances at the AquaTheater.
The Hideaway: Perched 135 feet above the ocean, this adults-only retreat offers all the luxury of a beach club, complete with a suspended infinity pool, whirlpools, and a DJ spinning the latest tracks.
Culinary Delights and More
Star of the Seas will also introduce new culinary experiences, including the Lincoln Park Supper Club, a 1930s Chicago-inspired venue offering multiple-course meals paired with live entertainment. The ship’s Royal Promenade, Central Park, and AquaDome Market will offer a diverse range of dining options, from casual bites to gourmet meals.
A Destination Within a Destination
The ship itself is a destination, but Star of the Seas will also take guests to some of the most idyllic spots in the Caribbean. With itineraries including stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, guests can expect the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
Expanding Horizons
In addition to Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean is also gearing up for the arrival of Utopia of the Seas in Port Canaveral, offering vacationers even more options for short getaways or weeklong escapes. Adding to the excitement is the opening of the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in The Bahamas in late 2025, the first of the Royal Beach Club Collection, promising a new level of exclusive beach experiences.
As Royal Caribbean continues to innovate, Star of the Seas is set to become the crown jewel of Port Canaveral, offering a cruise experience unlike any other. With its unmatched array of amenities and destinations, this new Icon Class ship is poised to set a new standard for family vacations at sea.
