A new chapter in Bahamian tourism was unveiled as Royal Caribbean International and The Bahamas commenced construction on the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, a 17-acre beach day experience located on Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on location, saw the participation of key figures, including Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, Prime Minister Philip Davis of The Bahamas, and Deputy Prime Minister I. Chester Cooper, signifying a significant milestone in the project.
Set to debut in 2025, the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island marks the inception of the Royal Beach Club Collection, promising a distinctive beach experience intricately woven with the essence of The Bahamas. With a unique public-private partnership, Bahamians are set to own up to 49% equity in the venture, underscoring a commitment to local empowerment within the tourism industry.
Prime Minister Philip Davis of The Bahamas expressed enthusiasm, stating, “With the signing of this Heads of Agreement for the development of Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, we embark on this project to further enhance the vitality of our tourism product. Signing today’s agreement, we add another world-class experience to our tourism offerings. And even more importantly, we take a bold step toward greater Bahamian empowerment in the tourism industry.”
The design of the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island reflects the vibrant architectural heritage of The Bahamas, crafted by local architectural firms. Visitors can anticipate a blend of Bahamian cuisine, culture, and hospitality amidst picturesque views of turquoise waters and pristine beaches. Highlights of the club include three pools with swim-up bars, private cabanas, island-style dining options, and live entertainment featuring local artisans and musicians.
Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “Marking more than the beginning of the construction process, today’s groundbreaking event symbolizes partnership, momentum, and continued economic development for so many Bahamian entrepreneurs and the entire community.”
The project is poised to generate employment opportunities for hundreds of Bahamians, with local businesses and entrepreneurs contributing to various aspects of the construction and operation. Workshops have already been conducted to develop authentic local dishes, music, entertainment, and design elements that encapsulate the Bahamian spirit.

Upon completion, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is expected to host an average of 2,000 guests. Accessible via a ferry ride from the Nassau Cruise Port, vacationers will embark on a journey that showcases the natural beauty of The Bahamas and integrates seamlessly with the vibrant culture and hospitality of the island nation. The return journey will traverse historic downtown Nassau, offering guests a glimpse into the region's rich heritage.
