Freestyle cruising is about to be brought to the next level. With the Norwegian Prima debuting in August of 2022, Norwegian Cruise Line is slowly revealing all that the jaw-dropping ship will feature. The most exciting onboard amenities include the Prima Speedway, Ocean Boulevard, and the newly redesigned stateroom accommodations.
FIRST IN CLASS
Norwegian Prima will be the first ship in her class. The Prima comes in at about 142,500 gross registered tons, which means she will be smaller than the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus class ships but larger than the Jewel class. Personally, this excites me beyond words that they are building another mid-size class of ship. She measures 965 feet long. Prima will sail in many parts of the world, starting with a couple of northern European sailings throughout the Baltic, Norway, and Iceland before transiting across the Atlantic for a Bermuda sailing. From there, she will cruise to Galveston for a quick stop, then calls in Miami before ultimately concluding her inaugural season in Port Canaveral before the next summer season takes off in Europe.
ONBOARD FEATURES
As Prima journeys to all these beautiful destinations, guests not only have some of the most sought-after destinations to explore but have this remarkable ship as well. For starters, the attractions onboard for thrill-seekers are incredible. The Prima Speedway will be the first three-story racetrack at sea. Imagine racing your friends or family around the funnel on the racetrack as the ship sails past the white sandy beaches of the Caribbean. Another unique set of attractions is The Rush and The Drop. The Rush is a set of dueling spiraling dry slides that allow your inner competitive mindset to take flight as you travel down ten decks. The Drop is supposedly the first free fall dry slide in the world. Prima's slides are said to be the fastest at sea! The fan-favorite virtual reality gaming venue Galaxy Pavilion will make an infamous return for guests who are still not fulfilled. I can't go without mentioning the brand-new mini-golf course, Tee time, that offers the first technologically advanced mini-golf course at sea, as well as The Bull's Eye immersive dart-throwing pub.
EXCITING ENHANCEMENTS
After releasing serotonin from the onboard attractions, it's time to relax in either the redesigned Vibe Beach Club or take a stroll on Ocean Boulevard. Vibe Beach Club is an adult-only serenity imagined for those above the age of 18. Guests who wish to indulge in Vibe are treated to the infinity hot tubs as well as a full-service bar. Ocean Boulevard is an extensive advancement of the waterfront on previous Norwegian ships. The Boulevard includes Infinity Beach, which wraps both sides of the vessel with Infinity pools and loungers to soak up the sun rays. As guests travel to the aft of the ship, they come across the ocean walk, a glass bridge over the ocean, as well as Indulge Food Hall. Indulge looks to be one of my favorite aspects of the ship. Featuring a big screen for movie nights, a fire pit, hammocks, and comfy seating to enjoy a seaside meal sounds like the place to be.
ONBOARD DINING
A new concept for Norwegian Cruise Line is the Indulge Food Hall. This a la carte cuisine experience offers ten various eateries spanning from Coco's deserts to Seaside Rotisserie. It seems we will find a few new dining opportunities, such as the Tapas Truck and The Garden. In addition to this new dining concept, fan favorites such as Onda, The Local, and Los Lobos will all make appearances onboard the ship. As we continue to creep closer to the ship's delivery date, we expect to hear more about the other dining opportunities.
SHOW STOPPERS
Onboard entertainment appears to be like no other. Yet another Broadway production is heading out to the high seas. Summer: The Donna Summer Musical will perform aboard the Norwegian Prima as guests can listen to the groovy tunes and rise in popularity of Donna Summer. The Theater onboard is the first in the world that can transform into a nightclub from being a three-story theater. Other performances will come from Light balance, a neon high-tech acrobatics and dance group, and comedians found in the Improv at sea and Rock and Roll in Syd Normand Pour House.
UPDATED ACCOMMODATIONS
From the adrenaline-pumping thrillers to the entertainment and dining options for each guest, they all retire their evening in the state-of-the-art staterooms. With a whole new color scheme and design, the cabins look more welcoming and modern than ever before. Guests who wish to elevate their experience onboard can book suites in The Haven, a private enclave created for only guests booked in these staterooms. The Haven onboard Prima has moved to the ship's aft rather than the mid or forward designs on past Norwegian ships. Guests can take advantage of the private aft pool, sundeck, lounge, bar, and even restaurant.
As we can see, the Norwegian Prima will be like no ship out there. With the perfect combination of fun and modern luxurious design, this will be one of the most anticipated ships of 2022.
