As many have heard, Yesterday, the Carnival Freedom caught fire in Grand Turk. Freedom was in port with Carnival Mardi Gras when the fire broke out in the Whale Tail funnel. The crew quickly got the fire under control and worked tirelessly until the fire was completely out. Guests onboard Carnival Freedom were able to disembark and enjoy Grand Turk while crews continued to assess the damage onboard the ship.
Carnival Mardi Gras was not affected by the fire, and all passengers and crew on both ships are safe. No injuries have been reported. Additionally, Carnival has confirmed the Carnival Freedom was cleared, and Guests were able to disembark the ship.
Carnival Freedom remains in Port in Grand Turk, with fully functioning hotel operations, and will be met by Carnival Conquest on Saturday, May 28, at 4 P.M. to ferry the guests onboard Freedom to Port Canaveral. Once guests disembark the Carnival Freedom, she will continue to Grand Bahama to enter drydock for immediate repairs. Guests sailing at the time of the incident will receive $100 per person to spend onboard and complimentary extended beverage and internet packages. Additionally, Carnival will reimburse flight change fees up to $200 per person, waive all additional parking fees at the Port Canaveral terminal, and provide all guests with a 50% future cruise credit.
