Carnival’s Celebration Key Nears Completion: A New Era for Grand Bahama
The countdown is on! In just five months, Carnival Cruise Line guests will step into a whole new world of fun and relaxation at Celebration Key, the cruise giant’s exclusive new destination on Grand Bahama. With construction nearing completion, Carnival Corporation & plc’s CEO Josh Weinstein, Chief Maritime Officer Lars Ljoen, and Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy recently got a firsthand look at the progress and sustainability efforts shaping this game-changing port of call.
A First Look at the Five Portals to Paradise
Carnival’s latest innovation isn’t just another private island—it’s a multi-experience destination designed to cater to every type of traveler. At the heart of Celebration Key stands the Suncastle, a stunning 10-story landmark in Paradise Plaza, which serves as the grand entrance to the five distinct portals:
Starfish Lagoon – A family-friendly oasis featuring thrilling racing waterslides and splash-filled fun.
Calypso Lagoon – An adult-centric escape boasting a swim-up bar and a DJ island for the ultimate beach party vibes.
Pearl Cove Beach Club – A premium, adults-only retreat complete with a luxury infinity pool and private cabanas.
Lokono Cove – A cultural hub showcasing Bahamian art and handcrafted goods.

Sustainability at the Forefront
Beyond the thrills, Celebration Key is setting new standards in eco-conscious design. Carnival’s team has taken major steps to preserve Grand Bahama’s natural beauty. Over 1,000 sabal palms have been saved and replanted, while the newly launched “Plant a Tree” program continues to strengthen local environmental initiatives.
During her visit, Christine Duffy took part in the ceremonial filling of one of two expansive freshwater lagoons—the largest in the Caribbean—spanning seven acres and holding nearly seven million gallons of water. These lagoons will be sustained through a cutting-edge desalination system that converts seawater into freshwater, reinforcing Carnival’s long-term commitment to sustainability.
The Final Countdown: What’s Next?
With 500 workers on-site daily, construction is in full swing as Celebration Key preps for its grand debut on July 19, 2025, when Carnival Vista will make its inaugural call. The destination is expected to be a major economic boost for Grand Bahama, with 28 Bahamian companies already contributing to the project.
New details continue to emerge about the guest experience, including exclusive upgrades at Pearl Cove Beach Club, where beachfront daybeds, private cabanas, and ultra-luxe Super Villas will soon be available to book. These elite accommodations will offer open bar service, a full-service restaurant, and premium beachfront access.

A Game-Changer for Carnival and Grand Bahama
“Celebration Key represents a new chapter for Carnival and its partnership with The Bahamas,” said Duffy. “Less than three years ago, this was just a vision. Now, we’re just months away from welcoming guests to this incredible destination.”
Weinstein echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the significance of the project: “This will be a tribute to Bahamian culture and Grand Bahama’s natural beauty. Celebration Key will redefine the cruise experience while championing sustainability and local economic growth.”
The buzz is real, and the excitement is building. Will you be among the first to experience Carnival’s biggest destination yet? The clock is ticking—July 19 can’t come soon enough!
