Carnival Cruise Line President Skydives to Raise Money

Carnival Cruise Line President Skydives for Relief

In an inspiring fusion of adventure, history, and philanthropy, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy is set to take on a new challenge—tandem skydiving. As part of the first-ever Special Forces Legacy Initiatives (SFLI) cruise aboard Carnival Paradise, Duffy will join the Round Canopy Parachute Team and the USSOCOM Para-Commandos in an unforgettable jump on October 19, 2024. The daring skydive will take place as Carnival Paradise departs from Port Tampa Bay for a five-day journey to The Bahamas.

This unique initiative celebrates the legacy of Special Forces and serves a greater purpose—hurricane relief efforts. Duffy has pledged to raise $50,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting veterans, first responders, and their families. The funds will specifically benefit the foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide critical relief to areas devastated by Hurricane Helene.

"I’ve never jumped from an airplane before, so I think this effort is worth at least $50,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation," said Duffy. "Saying that Carnival is America’s Cruise Line and the favorite cruise line for active-duty military and military veterans is one thing, showing it is another story, and I’m always ready to jump at the chance to prove it!"

In keeping with the historical spirit of the event, Duffy's jump will be from the legendary "Tico Belle," a World War II-era C-47 aircraft that played a key role in the Normandy D-Day invasion in 1944. This historic leap is more than just a symbolic gesture—it embodies Carnival’s deep commitment to honoring military service members and veterans, a mission Carnival has proudly embraced as "America’s Cruise Line."

The cruise itself, a first-of-its-kind charter organized by the Special Forces Legacy Initiatives, brings together Green Berets, their families, Gold Star families, and the broader Special Forces community for a week of camaraderie and reflection at sea. Attendees span generations, with veterans of the Korean War joining those who served in more recent conflicts. This reunion at sea is a powerful testament to the bonds shared by those who have served in the U.S. Special Forces, providing an opportunity to strengthen those ties in a relaxed, family-oriented setting.

The Gary Sinise Foundation, founded by actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise in 2011, has long been a beacon of support for veterans and first responders. Through concerts, fundraisers, and emergency relief efforts, the foundation has raised millions for those who have served the country. In a special treat for cruise-goers, Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will perform live on embarkation day, lifting spirits and kicking off the historic voyage in style.

As Carnival Paradise sets sail, it will carry with it not only a community of service members but also the hopes and support of thousands working toward a common cause—supporting those who defend the country, especially in times of crisis.

To join Duffy in her effort to raise $50,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation, supporters can visit the donation page. With every dollar, Carnival Cruise Line and its community of cruisers prove, once again, that they stand behind their country’s defenders—not just in words, but in action.
