After an astounding $165 million amplification for her tenth anniversary, the ship that completely redefined the cruise industry is now stunning the world with a new look!
Oasis of the Seas debuted in 2009 as the largest and most innovative passenger ship of all time and was roughly 40% larger than all other passenger ships. Ten years later, Oasis of the Seas holds the title of third-largest passenger ship third only to her new sisters Harmony and Symphony of the Seas with her sister Allure following just behind being the fourth largest.
Oasis of the Seas entered dry dock in Cadiz, Spain, in the Fall of 2019 for a 63-day dry dock that would virtually transform her into a new ship.
After sailing onboard the Oasis of the Seas twice before Amplification in 2013 and 2015, then once after Amplification in 2019, here are some of the most incredible changes onboard!
The Perfect Storm Trio of Waterslides:
The Perfect Storm water slides consist of two racers waterslides and a "Champagne Slide" first debuting onboard Harmony of the Seas in 2016 and then onboard Symphony in 2018. Royal had time to make this feature even better onboard the Oasis of the Seas. With the racer slides being more transparent and allowing light into the slides, the vertigo feeling, one might get on board the Harmony and Symphony racer slides, is avoided onboard Oasis making for a much more enjoyable experience.
The Ultimate Abyss:
Another familiar feature made famous by Harmony of the Seas proved it's popularity and is now featured onboard the Original Oasis-class Ship. This dry slide takes racers from the mouth of an angler fish, proudly watching over Oasis, on deck 16 down ten decks to six and the heart of the Boardwalk.
The Double Bridge:
A first for Royal Caribbean International! The double bridge offers an exclusive view for guests who are willing to live the high life for their cruise! Located directly above the navigational bridge, this area gives the views only rivaled by the captain. With two incredible Ultimate Panoramic Suites and 13 Panoramic Oceanview Staterooms, these views can only be enjoyed by a select few on each sailing.
Check out this virtual tour of the astounding Ultimate Panoramic Suite:
Redesigned Boardwalk:
Already being a favorite spot for families and the home of the iconic aqua shows, the Boardwalk has received the facelift it deserves!
Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade has quickly become a Royal Caribbean favorite and has found a home onboard Oasis. Taking up nearly half of the Boardwalk, Playmakers calls all sports fans and families to enjoy tabletop games such as Jenga and Foosball to Billiards and arcade games! O and the food, well that's a whole other experience, click here to read about the food at Playmakers.
Sugar Beach brings a wide variety of candy and treats for passengers of all ages, and let's not forget about the mouthwatering ice cream! I would be doing an injustice if I did not mention a walk-up window to get ice cream. It is vacation, so yes, get the ice cream!
Redesigned Promenade
The most iconic Royal Caribbean feature is, of course, the Royal Promenade. Introduced onboard Voyager of the Seas in 1999, the Royal Promenade quickly became a feature highlight and an astounding innovation for the cruise industry. Oasis promenade is filled with stores, lounges, coffee shops, and allows access to virtually every other area of the ship, it is the place to meet. The Promenade went through an extensive overhaul during dry dock, many areas were replaced with new venues, and the rest have been redesigned. Some replaced venues include:
The Champagne Bar now the Bionic Bar.
Made famous by the Quantum Class, the Bionic Bar brings your bar experience into the future with two robotic bartenders making specialty cocktails or one of your designs.
On Air Club now Spotlight Karaoke:
A first for Royal Caribbean, the new venue highlights one of the cruise industry's most popular activities, Karaoke.
Kate Spade now Island Market
With a shift in style and designers onboard, Island Market offers a tropical dress and accessories collection.
Prince and Green now Royal Caribbean Logo Store
A new, larger store to spend the remainder of your money on Royal Caribbean International swag!
Here are a few new features you will find on board the Amplified Oasis:
Music Hall:
Debuting on Quantum of the Seas in 2014, this multi-story lounge is where you will find tribute bands, pool tables, and a dance floor!
Portside BBQ:
An Oasis of the Seas exclusive, Portside BBQ is Royal Caribbean's first-ever BBQ specialty restaurant!
Escape Room:
Due to incredible popularity on ships in the fleet, Oasis of the Seas now touts an escape room, a specialty experience.
If you have sailed onboard Oasis of the Seas in the past or have yet to sail onboard her, it is time to sail onboard this iconic ship!
